Privacy Policy
This page explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to reflect what this site actually does — not a generic template.
Who This Is
Protection Dogs EU, operating this website at protectiondogs.eu, based in Greece. For any privacy question or request, contact contact@protectiondogs.gr.
What Information Is Collected
When you use the contact form: your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and whatever you write in the message field. This is sent to this site's own contact endpoint and delivered to my inbox using Resend, a transactional email service. Resend has its own privacy policy covering how they handle that data in transit.
A first-party visitor count that uses no cookies: this site counts visits itself, without setting any cookie or persistent identifier on your device. When you visit, the server briefly combines your IP address and browser identifier with the date to produce a one-way, scrambled code, purely so the same visitor isn't counted twice on the same day — that code is different again the very next day and cannot be reversed back into your IP address or browser identifier. Your device type (mobile, desktop, or tablet), a general referral source and referring website (for example Instagram, Google, or a specific blog), any campaign parameters in the link you followed, roughly how long a page stayed open, and your country and city are recorded in coarse form. City is approximate — based on network routing, not GPS or a precise address — and, unlike the Training Gallery request below, this never involves a separate IP-lookup service; it comes from the same infrastructure that routes the page to you. This is now the only analytics this site uses: Google Analytics was removed in September 2026 and nothing replaced it. The visitor count also notes which pages you open and which buttons you tap, for example a WhatsApp button or a link to the dog food page, but never anything you type. Nothing is ever written to your device for this, and it deliberately collects only the little described here.
A few small flags in your browser's local storage: your language choice if you use the language switcher, yes/no flags if you dismiss a site announcement banner or the “install the app” prompt (so they do not reappear), and a single yes/no flag noting only that you've visited before, used to show new-versus-returning visitor figures in aggregate — it carries no identifying value of its own and cannot be used to recognize you individually. These contain no personal information, are only ever read by this site, and never leave your device. The same storage also keeps a one-word note of whether the site’s offline support installed correctly, so problems can be diagnosed.
When you request access to the Training Gallery: your name, email address, country, your answer to a short qualifying question, and the timeframe you select, plus optionally which dog you're interested in. An approximate location (country/city) is also looked up from your IP address using ipapi.co, a geolocation service, as a secondary check — this is separate from the country you enter yourself. If your request is approved, you're sent an individual, personal access link; the system records when you were approved, when you last visited, and which posts you viewed, so access can be reviewed, extended, or revoked for that person specifically at any time.
If you attach a photo to a testimonial: the image itself, with any location or device data it carries (for example GPS coordinates from a phone) stripped out before it's stored. A separate checkbox confirms you agree to the photo being published — the form's general privacy consent doesn't cover that on its own. The photo stays private and unpublished unless and until the testimonial itself is approved; if a testimonial is rejected or later deleted, its photo is deleted with it.
Why This Information Is Collected
- To respond to your inquiry about a dog, training, or anything else you contact me about
- To review and manage individual requests to view the private Training Gallery
- To show a genuine photo alongside a testimonial, only with your consent and only once the testimonial is approved
- To understand which parts of the site are actually useful, so I can improve it
- To keep the site running securely and diagnose problems
I do not sell your information to anyone. I do not use it for anything beyond what's described here.
How Long It's Kept
Contact form submissions are kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and any resulting relationship, then deleted when no longer relevant. The first-party visitor count described above is stored without your IP address or browser-identifier string — only that day's one-way scrambled code and the coarse figures it produces — so there's no personal data in it to expire; it's kept in that anonymous form for up to 14 months, then automatically deleted. Training Gallery access requests and related records are kept for as long as the request or access remains relevant, then deleted. A testimonial photo is kept only as long as the testimonial itself is.
Your Rights
If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right under GDPR to ask what personal data I hold about you, request a copy of it, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how it's used. To exercise any of these, email contact@protectiondogs.gr.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies at all. It used Google Analytics until September 2026; that has been removed, and the cookie banner went with it — there is nothing left to ask your permission for. The first-party visitor count described above sets no cookie and no persistent identifier of any kind, by design. The few small flags described above live in your browser's own local storage, are only ever read by this site, and never leave your device; you can clear them at any time through your browser settings. Browsing the site and contacting me work exactly the same either way.
Changes to This Policy
If what this site collects or how it's used changes meaningfully, this page will be updated with a new "last updated" date above.
